Green Bay Packers fans are calling for defensive coordinator Joe Barry to be fired immediately over abysmal Week 2 play on defense.
The Green Bay Packers may have Aaron Rodgers, a Super Bowl-winning, three-time MVP who balled out last season for his latest MVP trophy.
They may have Davante Adams, who recorded a lethal 1,374 yards that kept NFL defenses on notice all last season.
They may also have Aaron Jones, the elite running back who scored both of the Packers’ touchdowns on elusive check downs.
But unfortunately, the Packers also have defensive coordinator Joe Barry, whose mishaps unravel all the stellar progress the Packers offense has made thus far this season.
Packers fans want Joe Barry fired
Barry, a longtime coordinator in the NFL, has just started his first season as DC with the Packers, but fans are quick to remind him that his past failures are already coming to haunt the franchise.
Joe Barry has coordinated four defenses. They finished 32nd, 32nd, 28th, and 28th in defensive DVOA. https://t.co/98O95aSFhV

Joe Barry is the best the Packers could do after they sacked Mike Pettine? Seriously?

SOMEONE TELL JOE BARRY WE ARE IN THE REGULAR SEASON AND THESE GAME COUNT

Joe Barry’s Packers defense has given up 52 points in five and a half quarters. I don’t know how he keeps getting jobs.

I wondered how the Lions' offense was moving so effortlessly. Then I remembered Green Bay's defensive coordinator is Joe Barry, the "architect" of the Lions' 0-16 defense. Lol.

Joe Barry's defense continues to be offensive.

Peyton Manning just went on a 30 second rant describing why Joe Barry's defensive call made no sense. I love this Manning cast.

Although the two teams were tied nearing halftime, Barry’s offensive defense allowed a field goal for a Lions 3-point lead.
It wouldn’t be the first time an NFL defensive coordinator has been fired mid-season for costly losses. In 2020, New York Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was fired after Week 13 for allowing a walk-off touchdown in a game that would have been the Jets’ first win all season.

While Week 2 is early for any coach to get sacked, it seems that Joe Barry’s longtime NFL track record indicates he should have been banned from the league years ago. But for now, scorned Lions fans who remember Barry’s 0-16 season in Detroit are fortunate to have him on the other side of the ball.
