Who sings the iconic Monday Night Football song?

While the opening notes of “Heavy Action” signal Monday Night Football in the minds of most Americans, the 51-year-old television program enjoys a rich history of musical themes. During the 2021 NFL season, football fans of all ages are treated to a cover of Lionel Richie’s 1983 hit single, “All Night Long”, which seems to be performed by singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc.

Blacc, whose real name is Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III, is most notably known for his own soulful 2010 hit single, “I Need A Dollar”, as well as the intro vocalist on Avicii’s 2013 track, “Wake Me Up.” Both songs reached prominent success in the U.S. and U.K.

This is not the first time Blacc’s songs have been featured in the sports world, with singing performances during the 2016 NBA Finals and 2015’s Wrestlemania 31. He also features on the song “The World is Ours”, a track on a compilation album created for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

While Blacc hasn’t officially released a cover of “All Night Long”, his appearance behind the scenes at last week’s game indicates he is the singer behind the revamped rendition.
