With a strong Week 3 performance from Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral, there is a new leader atop the Heisman odds, with Bryce Young dropping from the top spot.

After Week 3 action, the Heisman odds have been shaken up. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who previously had the best odds, has given up the top spot after a rollercoaster game against the Florida Gators. Young now has the second-best odds behind Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral. Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler rounds out the top three.

Matt Corral leads Heisman odds

The Ole Miss junior quarterback has been electric through the first three games of the season. Leading the No. 13 ranked Rebels to a 3-0 record, the team averages nearly 53 points a game.

Corral on the year has 997 passing yards, nine passing touchdowns, 158 rushing yards and another five rushing touchdowns. Corral’s one weakness last year was interceptions, throwing 14. That appears to be cleaned up as he has yet to throw the ball to the other team this season.

Bryce Young drops to No. 2 in updated Heisman odds

After the first quarter of Alabama’s game against the Florida Gators, it seemed as if Bryce Young’s odds for Heisman would improve even more. He had already thrown for three touchdowns and over 100 yards by the team the second quarter hit started.

From that point on, Alabama began to struggle on both sides of the ball. Young wouldn’t throw another touchdown for the remainder of the game and the Tide held on to a narrow 31-29 victory over the gators. This shaky performance explains Young dropping from one to two in the odds.

Heisman favorites meet in Week 5

Alabama and Ole Miss in two weekends so fans will see the two leading Heisman candidates make their statements. This game will not only have major implications on the SEC West race but could determine who takes a sizable lead in the Heisman race. A win for Young and the Tide will certainly jump him back into the lead. But if Corral can go into Tuscaloosa and pull off the upset, he will build a comfortable lead that Young may not be able to overcome unless Corral’s Rebels lose a game or two down the stretch.
