Blue Jays’ strategy card clearly isn’t that important to them (Video)
By Mark Powell
The Toronto Blue Jays made a fuss over Kevin Kiermaier taking their strategy card, but it sure doesn’t seem like they actually care about it.
The Jays only give a damn about that flashcard when someone takes it, which is fair. But the number of times it’s been dropped since that infamous incident is relatively concerning for the club, unless they’re doing it on purpose to test opposing teams.
Toronto went above and beyond to teach Kiermaier a lesson, plunking him in the back on purpose for breaking baseball’s unwritten rules. Both Jays manager Charlie Montoyo and pitcher Ryan Borucki were suspended.
So much for water under the bridge.
Blue Jays must do a better job holding on to strategy card
On Thursday night, the Blue Jays dropped that handy dandy card yet again, but this time it wasn’t retrieved by an opponent. What, exactly, are they going for here?
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. left Thursday’s game with an injury, and in the process dropped his card. The Blue Jays were several steps away from the infield when they realized they had lost it yet again.
Assuming the Blue Jays make the playoffs (big assumption right now), perhaps they ought to include some tape or something.
