Jack Coan injury update: Notre Dame QB should play vs. Cincinnati
Head coach Brian Kelly is āoptimisticā Coan will be able to play next week against Cincinnati, according to Ralph D. Russo of the AP. X-rays on the quarterbackās ankle were negative and he doesnāt appear to have a high ankle sprain.
Coan was 15-of-29 for 158 yards and a touchdown before his injury. Drew Pyne came in to replace him and went 6-of-8 for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Pyne led a touchdown and field goal drive, but the ultimate scoreline of 41-13 was a credit to special teams and defense in the fourth quarter. Chris Tyree returned a kick and Jack Kiser and Drew White returned interceptions for touchdowns.
If Coan is ready to go against Cincinnati, there shouldnāt be a quarterback controversy. The veteran transfer just has to prove heās unaffected by the ankle as the week rolls on.
