College football best bets: 5 locks of the week for Week 4 including Texas A&M vs. Arkansas

Best bets for college football Week 4 as these picks, including the big Texas A&M-Arkansas SEC matchup, are locks to hit this week.

Even the best-laid plans made with great reasoning sometimes fall by the wayside. Such was the case a week ago with our college football best bets and locks as we went just 2-3 with our five picks thanks to Alabama and Ohio State not dominating nearly in the manner they were expected to.

It’s time to bounce back, though, as we eye the Week 4 slate of games. While the schedule might be lacking some of the marquee games college football fans have gotten spoiled by early in the season, there are plenty of opportunities to take some action on lines and spreads that appear ripe for the picking.

With that in mind, these are the college football best bets and locks of the week for Week 4 of the 2021 season.

College football best bets and locks for Week 4

5. West Virginia (+17.0) at Oklahoma

Oklahoma winning in Norman against a Big 12 opponent isn’t an easy call to make. But this is a Sooners team that let both Tulane and Nebraska into games in which Lincoln Riley’s group had decisive advantages. West Virginia is better than both of those teams, so it’s hard to comprehend how the Mountaineers are 17-point underdogs.

4. North Carolina at Georgia Tech – Over 63.5

Though the Yellow Jackets defense gave Clemson fits last week, I would contend that North Carolina and Sam Howell have looked better offensively than the Tigers. Furthermore, since the upset loss to Virginia Tech in Week 1, the Tar Heels have been hitting overs with ease, largely because they’re a powderkeg offensively and a saloon door defensively. That spells an easy over for this game.

3. SMU vs. TCU – Over 65.5

Pretty simple formula for taking the over in this battle for the Iron Skillet. SMU and TCU have both proven that they have explosive and more than capable offenses. They’ve also proven that their defenses are not necessarily to be trusted. Expect a back-and-forth offensive showcase in which 65.5 points is a distant memory.

2. Colorado State at Iowa – Under 44.0

Sure, this is a low point total to be betting the under on. But one look at an Iowa Hawkeyes game makes it perfectly logical. This team plays at a methodical pace and slowly chokes the life out of a game. They aren’t explosive offensively, even against Colorado State. And with the Rams unlikely to muster much offense, the under feels pretty comfortable in this spot.

1. Texas A&M vs. Arkansas (+5.0)

All told, I flirted with Arkansas +170 on the moneyline because I do believe KJ Jefferson and the Razorbacks have enough juice to get past the Aggies on Saturday. But if we’re locking it up, then the +5.0 against the spread is the easy call. With a hungry defense playing against Zach Calzada, who has been less than stellar to this point, Arkansas should be able to keep it within a field goal at a minimum.
