Georgia’s victory over Vanderbilt was expected, but given the total yards allowed vs. the points scored by the Bulldogs, it’s unbelievable.

Georgia’s 62-0 victory over Vanderbilt wasn’t even as close as that lopsided score would indicate.

While the Bulldogs scored 62 points, they only allowed 77 total yards. That’s not a typo; the Commodores could only muster 77 yards against one of the best defenses in college football.

Granted, this is Vanderbilt, a school that hasn’t necessarily been among the best in college football, but you would expect them to play a little better and at least hit the century mark.

Georgia defense is unbelievable and will be what carries the team this season

Vanderbilt quarterback Mike Wright was the only player on the Commodores offense to put up any production against Georgia, accounting for more than half the team’s total yardage with 41 yards rushing and just 16 yards passing. By contrast, two Bulldogs running backs ran for over 40 yards.

While this statistic is impressive, it’s not like Alabama put up this type of production against the Bulldogs. It’s the Commodores, so take this with a grain of salt if you will.

Nevertheless, the Bulldogs defense is showing that they will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with, and should they be the last team standing, it will be those on the defensive side of the ball that has a lot to do with it.
