The Clemson Tigers have been an unstoppable force in the ACC under Dabo Winney but when was the last time the program had two losses in the regular season?
Dabo Swinney hasn’t experienced any lean years at the helm of the Clemson Tigers. Bad years by the program’s standards under his watch have legitimately been not winning College Football Playoff games.
So it’s been quite uncommon for Clemson football to suffer more than one regular-season loss if they even lose the one game. But after their opening loss to Georgia in the 2021 season, it feels like another one could be coming in a long year.
That begs the question: When was the last year Clemson football lost more than one game in the regular season.
Clemson last lost two regular-season games back in 2014
After Clemson fell to NC State in 2OT on Saturday to give the team a second loss in September, you have to go back to the 2014 season for Clemson’s last two-loss regular season, a year in which they went just 10-3.
Oddly enough, they also lost to Georgia to open that season as well. They then went on to lose to Florida State and Georgia Tech for the year as well with a team that tried to start Cole Stoudt at quarterback over Deshaun Watson.
This is very much a rebuilding year for Swinney’s program that likely will miss the College Football Playoff for the first time since its inception in 2014.
