Asante Samuel made a highlight-reel play to intercept Patrick Mahomes
Los Angeles Chargers’ CB Asante Samuel made an incredible catch to intercept Kansas City Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes.
If the Kansas City Chiefs wanted to come to Arrowhead Stadium and start things out on the right foot after suffering a loss last week to the Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers‘ CB Asante Samuel ruined that already. The rookie from FSU made sure that Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes will remember his name.
After throwing his first interception during the month of September last Sunday night, Mahomes threw a second one on the last Sunday of the month.
Los Angeles Chargers rookie CB Asante Samuel Jr. intercepts Kansas City Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes
After a pass from Mahomes to WR Marcus Kemp went right through Kemp’s hands, Samuel was there to make a highlight-reel interception.
Samuel spread out to catch the deflected pass, slammed into the ground and then flipped over, all while still maintaining control of the football.
At 2nd & 6, Mahomes threw a no-look pass that would’ve put Kansas City in the redzone. While it’s an interception on Patrick’s end, Kemp should’ve caught it. Instead, it helped to boost Los Angeles’ defense early on in a bounce-back game for Kansas City.
It’s still way too early to count out Mahomes and the Chiefs, but it’s clear that Samuel is going to be a problem for offenses in the league.
Watch out, Kansas City, Asante Samuel Jr. is here.
