In a battle of NFC undefeated, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Los Angeles Rams in a Week 3 matchup on Sunday afternoon.
In Week 3, the NFL is rewarded with what looks to be a shootout against two of the best teams in the NFC. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Los Angeles to face off against the Rams on Sunday afternoon and one of those teams will leave the SoFi stadium with a loss on their record.
When ‘Tom versus Time’ launched in 2018, Tom Brady had just won his third NFL MVP award, while leading New England to a Super Bowl appearance. Three weeks into the 2021 season, at 44-years-old, Brady seems on pace to win his fourth MVP honor and lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to back-to-back Super Bowl trips.
In his first two games this season, the seven-time champion has 655 yards and nine touchdowns to two interceptions on a 65% completion rate. In both of those games, he had the Buccaneer’s offense buzzing and will be the driving force for their success for Tampa Bay against the Rams.
With their 48-25 win against the Falcons last week, the Buccaneers have had nine straight games with 30 points or more scored.
The Bucs defense is a tad polarizing; they are 30th in passing yards allowed but second in rushing yards allowed. They’re going up big on teams and forcing them to abandon the run games early, however, they’re not containing the pass all that much.
In their two wins, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has hooked up with receiver Cooper Kupp 16 times for 271 yards (fifth in the league). Van Jefferson and Robert Woods are the next closest in terms of yards but only have 186 yards combined.
Stafford and Kupp are quickly proving to be a deadly combination for Los Angeles and should garner a lot more attention throughout the league. If they’re able to connect often against the Tampa Bay defense, it will prove well for opening up the Rams’ 16th-ranked offense that hasn’t had a whole lot of a run game yet this season.
In his first couple of games with Los Angeles, Stafford has looked like the best of himself with about 600 yards, five touchdowns and one interception on a 70% completion rate. Although the Bucs are slight favorites in this one, if Stafford can lead the Rams to the upset, Stafford will have early claims at the MVP award as well.
