The Kansas City Chiefs fell to 1-2 with a close loss to the Chargers. After two straight defeats, Patrick Mahomes and company need to change things up.

Are the Chiefs in the middle of a Super Bowl hangover?

Kansas City dropped under .500 for the first time since 2015 on Sunday with a 30-24 loss to the Chargers. Coming off a heartbreaking loss in Baltimore, the Chiefs have seen better days.

It isn’t time to hit the panic button just yet, but Kansas City does need to address some problems to turn things around.

Help the secondary

Justin Herbert tore up the Chiefs’ defense with four touchdowns and 281 yards on 26-of-38 passing. Mike Williams made a fool of the secondary throughout with seven catches for 122 yards and two scores, including the game-winner.

Mike Hughes got abused. KC missed Charvarius Ward, who was out with a quad injury.

Getting Ward back eventually will certainly help, but until then the secondary needs help. The pass rush has to start getting significantly better pressure.

Kansas City has four sacks total this season, with two of them coming from Chris Jones in Week 1. The defensive front isn’t making opposing quarterbacks uncomfortable. Herbert had way too much time to sit back and find his receivers.

It doesn’t help that Frank Clark sat out another game with an injury, but someone else has got to step up and start making plays.
