Matt Nagy’s response Week 3 loss will send Bears fans into a blind rage
Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy is making headlines for all the wrong reasons: by dragging his team after a humiliating Cleveland Browns loss.
“They are who we thought they were!“
These immortal words will live forever as the most hilarious coaching outburst of all time, but Matt Nagy’s comments after a 26-6 loss to the Browns were a little less humorous.
“You almost can’t make it up. It was that bad,” Nagy said after watching his team lose for the second time this season.
Of course, unlike Bears fans, Nagy wasn’t just helplessly watching from the sidelines: this was his team, and he could have actually done something about it.
Instead, Nagy stood by as the team barely broke 100 offensive yards with a depressing exhibition by rookie quarterback Justin Fields. In his first full NFL game, Fields completed just six out of 20 passes for 68 yards and suffered nine brutal sacks.
The only points Chicago scored on the day were two field goals by kicker Carlos Santos.
Matt Nagy response to Week 3 loss is the last thing Bears fans need to hear
As Da Windy City’s Ryan Heckman pointed out, the Bears loss is not the rookie’s fault: it firmly rests on Nagy’s shoulders for bad play-calling all game.
"“Let’s get this out of the way. There were a few incompletions that were thrown into decent coverage, but still accurate balls. Fields didn’t turn the ball over. However, he looked more and more rushed as the game went on — and that’s putting it lightly.”"
The loss wasn’t just a bad one; it was entirely avoidable to lose by that much. The Bears’ inability to utilize Fields seemed “almost purposeful.”
The loss that’s too bad to make up has Bears fans in disbelief as they find ways to cope with another letdown of a game.
While Matt Nagy remains in disbelief about his loss, Twitter is here to remind Nagy that yes, in fact, he is an idiot.
