When will Josh Gordon make his debut with Kansas City Chiefs?
By John Buhler
Josh Gordon is the newest member of the Kansas City Chiefs’ ultra deep receiving corps.
After having been reinstated by the NFL, veteran wide receiver Josh Gordon is joining the Kansas City Chiefs.
While the bulk of their issues lie on the defensive side of the ball, the two-time defending AFC champions are a 1-2 football team. Though their stay in the AFC West basement will only be temporary, adding a dynamic, albeit troubled, playmaker in Gordon could be the boost this underperforming team needs. So when can Gordon play his first game with the Chiefs?
Now that he has been reinstated, he can suit up for Kansas City in Week 4 when they take on head coach Andy Reid’s former employer in the Philadelphia Eagles in the City of Brotherly Love. Kickoff from Lincoln Financial Field will be at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 3.
Ian Rapoport notes that Gordon was added to the Chiefs practice squad, which means his debut might have to wait until Week 5 so that he has time to get up to speed.
Then again, speed is the name of Gordon’s game and you don’t need to know much of the playbook to know that getting open for Patrick Mahomes is a good idea.
Josh Gordon suspension: When will WR make his Kansas City Chiefs debut?
Gordon has had so many off-the-field issues in his football career. However, he has shown to be an incredible player in the rare instances he is allowed to play. His best season came nearly a decade ago with the 2013 Cleveland Browns where he was a First-Team All-Pro. Gordon most recently was a member of the 2019 Seattle Seahawks, and the New England Patriots before that.
The Gordon signing is not everything for the Chiefs, but it is something for the Kansas City roster.
