Noah Syndergaard making his comeback for the Mets on Tuesday
After not appearing in a game since 2019, New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard is set to start on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins.
The long wait is now over for all your New York Mets fans: Noah Syndergaard is back. On Tuesday, the Mets activated Syndergaard off the Injured List and have announced that he’ll be starting Game 2 of the double-header with the Miami Marlins.
It’s been a long road back for Syndergaard, as the hard-throwing righty underwent Tommy John Surgery in March of 2020. He hasn’t taken the field since, but he’s ready to grab his glove and get back in action later today. It’s of course a welcome sign for everyone watching in Queens.

Noah Syndergaard will finally return to the bump on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins
There’s no doubt that Syndergaard will receive quite the ovation from the hometown fans for this one. He’s been working his tail off to try and get back to this point. Unfortunately for him, it has come in a season where the Mets weren’t able to live up to the hype and they’ll be watching the playoffs from home.
Earlier in the year, New York looked fantastic and folks thought they’d be able to compete for an NL East title. That won’t be the case, though, with the Braves or Phillies taking home that honor.
Regardless of that, Tuesday will certainly be special for Syndergaard. When healthy, he’s a fantastic hurler and is known for silencing sluggers at the dish. He’s had to face this adversity with the Tommy John Surgery, but he’s now at the point where he can get back to doing what he loves most.
While the Mets will want to be careful with Syndergaard in his first start back, the fact that he’ll be able to put on a show before the year ends is awesome. Mets nation as a whole won’t want to miss this.
