Sorry Patrick Mahomes, we don’t believe slow start is fun for you
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is an optimist about the team’s 1-2 start to the season.
The Kansas City Chiefs are 1-2 to start out the NFL season and it isn’t quite what people expected. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs won a Super Bowl title in 2020 and fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the biggest stage in 2021, but are in danger of representing the AFC at SoFi Stadium in February.
After losing to the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City is in last place in the AFC West.
Patrick Mahomes is ready to see how the Kansas City Chiefs respond to bad start
It’s still early in the season, but Mahomes is being an optimist. At this point, what else is there to do?
Strangely enough, Patrick is enjoying being in this position.
"“It’s exciting. Now you know you have to go,” Mahomes said. “We’ve put our back against the wall. So how are we going to respond? I think you’ll get the best out of everybody. You’ll get the best out of every person in this locker room because you know that it’s time to go now.”"
Hopefully that means that Mahomes won’t have a repeat performance of last week when he threw for a season-low 260 yards and two interceptions. Patrick already has three interceptions this year alone after throwing a total of six last season. Part of that is on his wide receivers, but the Chiefs’ offense got a huge boost after signing Josh Gordon earlier this week.
The Chiefs’ main issue is their defense. How will Kansas City respond against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday? If it’s not with a win, what will Mahomes have to say?
