The Alabama Crimson Tide’s 42-21 win over the Ole Miss Rebels was satisfying for these three reasons.

Every season, college football fans look at the Alabama Crimson Tide’s schedule and try to determine which team could potentially pull off the upset. The Florida Gators were close earlier this year, but the next great challenge for the defending National Champions were the No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels, led by head coach Lane Kiffin and quarterback Matt Corral.

In the end, it proved to be not much of a challenge at all for the Crimson Tide, as they cruised to a 42-21 victory on Saturday. For Alabama fans, they will look back to determine what parts they enjoyed the most about the win. We’ll help you out, because these three were probably the most satisfying parts about the game.

3. Beating Lane Kiffin

Kiffin looked to defeat his former boss in Nick Saban on Saturday, being the first of his assistants to do so.  But, he did catch ire from the Crimson Tide faithful just before kickoff. Hours before the game, Kiffin retweeted photos of mugshots of Alabama players. Then, during his pregame interview on CBS, Kiffin told viewers to “get your popcorn ready” before tossing his headset into the air to “drop the mic.”

Then, the game started. Kiffin was outmatched by Saban for the majority of the game, which is why they walked into halftime trailing 28-0. In fact, the Rebels would not get on the board until midway through the third quarter.

Kiffin was mighty confident heading into the game, but seeing him stand on the sidelines in stunned silence had to be euphoric for Alabama fans.

2. Bryce Young getting pole position for Heisman Trophy

The Heisman sweepstakes is always something worth keeping an eye on throughout the college football season. Entering Saturday, Corral was seen as a favorite to hoist the trophy at the end of the season. Through three games, Corral had accumulated 997 passing yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions while completing 68.8-percent of his passes.

But before this game even ended, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young showed that he could be the true favorite to win the award.

On the day, Young completed 20-of-26 of his passes for 241 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. With the Ole Miss game in the books, Young now has thrown for 1,124 yards, 15 touchdowns and just one pick while owning a completion percentage of 72.1.

If there is a quarterback to win the Heisman, Young has shown that he should be the one taken under serious consideration.

1. Brian Robinson’s ridiculous performance

If there was one true star of the game, it had to be Alabama senior running back Brian Robinson Jr. We say that because Robinson had himself a career-day in Tuscaloosa.

On the day, Robinson rushed for 171 yards and four, that’s right, four touchdowns on 36 carries, all of which were the most he had recorded in a single game. Sure the numbers were nice and all, but just look at how difficult it was for Ole Miss defenders to bring him to the turf on Saturday.

Getting the running game goin always helps the offense. Considering Robinson’s ridiculous workload on the day, that played a role in the Crimson Tide having possession of the ball for nearly 38-minutes.

Alabama’s game on Oct. 2, 2021 will forever be known as the “Brian Robinson Jr. Game.” We don’t make the rules, we’re just saying it’s an idea that should be considered.
