Nick Saban and the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide are getting prepped for a high profile match up with an upset minded No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels team.
Lane Kiffin is headed back to face the team that helped alter the trajectory of his career. After Kiffin was ousted from USC, he joined Nick Saban as Alabama’s offensive coordinator where he helped reinvent how the Crimson Tide’s offense operated. But his time under Saban’s guidance helped Kiffin develop as a coach and now he’s leading one of the most intriguing teams in the country in Ole Miss.
The Rebels are headed into this game with a quarterback who should be in the Heisman discussion and an offense that appears capable of scoring points by the dozen on anyone. Ole Miss is 3-0 and has been fascinating to watch so far, but the Rebels haven’t faced a team as talented as Alabama just yet.
Saban has found plenty of success against his former assistants who have gone on to be head coaches, but as we’ve seen, the Crimson Tide appears a little vulnerable this season. Against the Florida Gators, Alabama jumped out to a 21-3 lead and then stumbled to a 31-29 win.
Outside of that game though, Bama is beating its opponents with ease. The Crimson Tide has crushed Miami, Mercer, and Southern Miss, beating the three teams by a combined score of 155-41.
Ole Miss vs. Alabama injury report Week 5
It looks like the Alabama Crimson Tide got some pretty good injury updates earlier this week. According to a report from Roll Tide Wire, Saban confirmed that running back Brian Robinson Jr. could see action against Ole Miss while defensive lineman LaBryan Ray is recovering well from an injury he suffered in the offseason.
