Clayton Kershaw’s postgame interview after injury is heartbreaking (Video)

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw injured his forearm and could be out long-term. His post-game interview was tough to watch.
Kershaw was visibly defeated after the game, and rightly so. The Dodgers have fought all season for the chance to win back-to-back World Series’. While they still have an excellent chance at doing so even without Kershaw, he clearly wanted to play a role in their postseason run.
Manager Dave Roberts even admitted that he’s “just not too optimistic right now.”
“He couldn’t continue pitching, so that’s pretty telling,” Roberts continued.

For Roberts to be so blunt after the fact, and for Kershaw himself to look so defeated after the fact, suggests the Dodgers are awaiting bad news.
Kershaw had his head down for pretty much the entire press conference. While few players actually enjoy talking to the media, Kershaw genuinely doesn’t mind sharing his time. This is a defeated man who is assuming the worst. Given he is the player injured, that cannot be a good sign.
“It just got bad enough to where I couldn’t keep going tonight,” Kershaw said, per ESPN. “I’ll get it looked at again, obviously, in the next couple days. Haven’t quite wrapped my head around all that yet. The biggest thing was I just wanted to be part of this team going through October. This team is special. You saw tonight. … I’ve known that. I know that we’re gonna do something special this year, and I wanted to be a part of that. That’s the hardest part for me right now is just knowing that chances are it’s not looking great for October right now.”
We can only hope Kershaw is jumping the gun here and can pitch in, somehow. The future Hall of Famer has given so much to this franchise.
