Ohio State fans will roll over laughing at Kirk Herbstreit’s comments about Michigan
By Scott Rogust
Ohio State Buckeyes fans will not like hearing former quarterback Kirk Herbstreit speaking positively about Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh.
When it comes to Ohio State Buckeyes fans, they love it when they play the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan has not defeated Ohio State since 2011, and they were blown out in the past two meetings. But if 2021 has shown us anything, this is not your same Wolverines football program.
Following Michigan’s 38-17 win over the Wisconsin Badgers, Ohio State fans were dealt a gut punch in reading former Buckeyes quarterback and current ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit heap a ton of praise on the Wolverines and head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Kirk Herbstreit’s praise for Michigan following 38-17 win over Wisconsin
The Wolverines inflicted most of their damage against the Badgers in the second half, after holding a slight 13-10 lead at halftime. From there, it was all Wolverines, especially once Badgers starting quarterback Graham Mertz was ruled out with a chest injury following a sack by Daxton Hill at the start of the third quarter.
As Herbstreit points out, Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara performed well on Saturday, as he threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns while completing 60.7-percent of his passes (17-of-28).
Meanwhile, Wisconsin’s running game was ineffective when trying to run on Michigan. They did pick up 47 yards on the day, but it came on 32 carries. Yikes.
This Michigan team looks like they are the real deal five games into the season. But for those wondering, the Wolverines do not face off against the Buckeyes until the final game of the regular season. It’s a long wait, but this meeting could be the closest we have seen between both programs in quite some time.
