For the first time since 1986, Kentucky got to celebrate in the home locker room a win over mighty Florida.
Kentucky survived vs. Dan Mullen’s Gators with a 20-13 score that was decided on the second-to-last play of the game.
Kentucky gets first home win vs. Florida since 1986
Florida drove to the precipice of the goal line but the Kentucky defense stood tall against Emory Jones and the Gators offense.
Kentucky improved to 5-0 on the year while Mullen’s team fell to 3-2. Over the last eight games, Florida is just 3-5, dating back to the back-breaking loss to LSU where a shoe-tossing incident cost the Gators.
This loss all but eliminated the Gators from the College Football Playoff conversation while it keeps Kentucky in the conversation as the biggest challenger to No. 2 Georgia in the SEC East.
There is no doubt that Kentucky will be ranked inside the Top 25 when the new college football rankings are released on Sunday.
