The running back was a wild position in Week 3 fantasy football. Some unexpected names helped teams win, and that will happen again in Week 4.

Week 3 in the NFL was wild in terms of the running back position for fantasy football owners. Ezekiel Elliott was the top scorer at the position one week after he was easily outscored by his backup Tony Pollard. The other two players who scored more than 20 points in PPR scoring were Peyton Barber and Kareem Hunt, both players who are backups on the depth chart. James Conner was sixth and Alexander Mattison was seventh in standard scoring. Nobody was playing them this week unless they caught that Dalvin Cook was out at the last minute.

When looking at PPR, Najee Harris was the leading running back scorer for the week. James Robinson’s fantasy owners finally got the love they were hoping for when the Jaguars lost when Travis Etienne was lost for the season before taking a snap for the franchise.

This week, there are some absolutely intriguing that fantasy teams can take advantage of today. Some tweener running back starts are playing some absolutely terrible rushing defenses. Since it’s now the fourth week of the season, we have as much information as we could need to make a smart decision with our lineup.

Which running backs will help you win in Week 4 of fantasy football?

10. Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers lost Christian McCaffrey on Thursday Night Football. It’s really bad for Sam Darnold and that offense as a whole, but the fact Chuba Hubbard has more than a week to get used to being the starter is as good as it gets. Chuba Hubbard was a handcuff many fantasy owners put on the roster before this week, but he was very available before waivers after a quiet first two weeks.

Remember last year when McCaffrey went out? Mike Davis was immediately a starting-caliber running back. Hubbard is an extremely talented player who might have been a first-round pick in the NFL Draft if he didn’t have a disastrous last year at Oklahoma State. Now, he’s getting a chance to take the reigns in Carolina while their star player is out. The Cowboys are quite good against the run, but Hubbard could prove to be matchup proof.
