Oregon Ducks fans are not going to like the assessment made by ESPN commentator Chris Fowler following their loss to Stanford on Saturday.

The Oregon Ducks walked into Stanford Stadium as the third-ranked team in the nation on Saturday afternoon. All the team had to do was win-out for the remainder of the season to clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Instead, the team blew a late 24-17 lead in the final seconds of regular to end up losing to the Cardinal 31-24 in overtime. With Ducks fans in their feelings with their National Championship chances now up in smoke, they certainly didn’t feel any better seeing Chris Fowler’s tweet.

Ducks lose to Stanford to end hopes of CFP National Championship

From the “inability to put teams away” remark, to bringing up that this is now the fourth-time that Oregon has lost to Stanford in overtime, to that the Pac-12 conference’s chances of making the Playoff are essentially over. Ducks fans, we suggest just logging off of social media tonight. It’s for the best.

The Ducks appeared to have the victory sealed with the clock striking zero after an incomplete pass thrown by Tanner McKee. Instead, Oregon was called for holding, allowing McKee to throw a two-yard pass to Elijah Higgins to send the game to overtime.

In extra time, Stanford needed six plays to get on the board first, as McKee hit John Humphreys for a 14-yard touchdown. Mario Cristobal’s offense could not get anything going on their lone overtime drive, as they went four-and-out to seal the win for Stanford.

From the highs of defeating Ohio State in the second week to the season, to now reeling over a stunning loss to Stanford, it has truly been a roller coaster season for Oregon.
