Six Super Bowl titles wasn’t enough to earn Tom Brady cheers on Sunday night in Foxborough. Patriots fans are tough to please.

The Patriots showed a Brady tribute video pregame, in the hopes it would set a trend of appreciation for the man who helped change the culture of New England football. While fans were initially kind to Brady before kickoff, that all changed on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ first offensive possession.

Boston sports fans are tough to read. While they loved Brady when he was on their side, leaving for greener pastures and succeeding so quickly has to leave a bad taste in the mouths of fans and the organization.

Patriots fans boo Tom Brady is return to New England

Gillette Stadium is sold out for Brady’s much-anticipated return. There’s no doubt he’ll go into the Hall as a Patriot, but this is a rare opportunity for fans to watch the GOAT play against their team, rather than for it.

If fans were going to boo, this is how it should be done. They showed nothing but respect for Brady up until kickoff. But when the game began, Brady was wearing rival colors.

Brady will surely use said boos as motivation, though the weather is likely to slow him down a little bit. It’s classic football weather in New England. Brady is home.
