Arch Manning rumors: 1 program standing out due to ‘home feel’
By Ethan Lee
The Arch Manning recruiting sweepstakes are getting interesting with Texas emerging as a leading candidate because of the ‘home feel’ he experienced at Austin.
As the race for Arch Manning heats up, the highly ranked quarterback recruit reportedly said one particular city a high profile college team is located in has a “home feel” to it. That sort of comment shouldn’t be dismissed as teams try to earn a commitment from the five-star quarterback recruit.
Manning is being courted by a multitude of teams and has captivated the attention of the college football world and it makes sense because he’s the highest-ranked player in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Everyone from Alabama to Clemson to Georgia to Texas (and all of those teams in between) is seeking the young quarterback’s services.
Even the Ole Miss Rebels are trying to convince him to play for them. That’s not shocking when you consider how he’s the grandson of legendary Ole Miss quarterback Archie Manning.
But according to a tweet from Cole Patterson, it’s Austin, Texas that has a “home feel” for Manning.
Texas football: Arch Manning says Austin has a “home feel” for him
This doesn’t definitively mean that Manning is headed to Texas, but it’s not something that anyone should overlook.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is working on elevating the Longhorns and a brand new, highly ranked quarterback would be very beneficial for those efforts. The former Alabama offensive coordinator is already seeing his schemes work well in Austin.
Though they’ve been far from perfect, the Longhorns are averaging 473 total yards of offense per game while scoring 43.8 points per game. While those averages are a bit skewed by UT’s 70-35 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders, it’s clear that Sarkisian is building an offensive powerhouse at Texas.
Pairing Manning up with this sort of scheme could be fun for UT fans. Again, his comment isn’t an exact indicator of where Manning will end up, but Texas football fans should be excited about the thought of having him in Sarkisian’s offense.
