Look: Florida Gators unveil sweet throwback uniforms for homecoming game
This week when the Florida Gators take the field for their Homecoming game, they’ll be wearing a dazzling throwback uniform.
With Homecoming weekend arriving this week at Florida, the No. 20 Gators revealed their uniform for the game. When they suit up against Vanderbilt on Oct. 9, they will look to bounce back from an upset loss to Kentucky last weekend in throwback garbs.

The throwback uniform features iterations of past-Gators uniforms, most specifically the orange helmet and “UF” logo attached to it are from the Ray Greaves-Gators era, instituted in 1969. The helmet doesn’t have a stripe as has been custom to the Gators in recent history.

Florida maintained the UF on the helmet until Charlie Pell took over in 1979, when he scratched it for the “Gators” logo. The helmets will also have a grey face mask, a relative.
The blue jerseys and white pants were worn in a game against Missouri last season and are the same Homecoming jersey-pant combo they wore in 2019 when they upset the No. 7 Auburn Tigers. They are callbacks to the 1960s when former Florida coach Steve Spurrier was the Gators’ quarterback.
At 3-2, the Gators are hoping to right the ship with a convincing win over an SEC opponent. If these jerseys can somehow add to their latest Homecoming trend of wins, then they should look to frequent them throughout the remainder of the season.
Florida has an all-time record of 69-26-2 in Homecoming games and is has won two of their last three Homecoming games.
According to the Gators’ Twitter account, gear can be purchased on Fanatics.com and the Official Gator Sport Shop.
