AL Wild Card lineups revealed for Yankees vs. Red Sox

The New York Yankees take on The Boston Red Sox tonight in the American League Wild Card game.

The month of October is here which means postseason baseball is finally here as well. The first game of the MLB playoffs is tonight in a winner take all American League Wild Card game between the division rival New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. Both teams will be looking to add some October magic to this storied rivalry.

With first pitch scheduled for 8:08 p.m. ET, both teams have announced their lineups for tonight.

Yankees starting lineup

All-Star right handed pitcher Gerrit Cole will take the mound for the Yankees. In four games against the Red Sox this year, Cole has pitched 22 innings allowing 24 hits and and 12 earned runs. New York is 2-2 in those games.

On the mound for Boston is Nathan Eovaldi, who was selected to his first All-Star game this season. In six games against the Yankees this year, Eovaldi has pitched 32.6 innings, allowing 38 hits and 14 earned runs. The Red Sox were 2-4 in those games.

Tonight’s game will take place with the rivalry as close as it’s ever been. Both team’s enter with 92-70 records with the Red Sox having the tie breaker as they edged out the season series 10-9. It is New York who comes in with the momentum though, having just recorded a three-game sweep of the Red Sox in Boston last weekend towards the end of the regular season.

With big bats, quality pitching, a historic rivalry and a chance to advance to the ALDS, tonight’s game will be a must watch.
