How far did Xander Bogaerts home run go?
By Ethan Lee
The Boston Red Sox claimed a 2-0 lead over the New York Yankees after Xander Bogaerts launched a home run in the bottom of the first inning.
For just the third time in his career, Xander Bogaerts mashed a home run in the playoffs. The Boston Red Sox have to be glad he hit this one when he did because it gave them an early 2-0 lead over the New York Yankees.
With Gerrit Cole on the mound for the Yankees and Rafael Devers getting on first thanks to a walk, Bogaerts was able to spot Cole’s changeup and crushed it. That pitch became a two-run shot sent out past center field.

Bogaerts apparently hit that pitch and sent it out of play at 108 mph. In total, the pitch traveled 427 feet.
Pitching to Bogaerts can generally be tricky to do. Over nine seasons at the MLB level, Bogaerts has a .290 batting average. Unfortunately for Boston, his batting average drops considerably in the postseason. Through four different trips to the postseason prior to this year, Bogaerts owns a .219 batting average.
Still, he saw the ball well enough when matched up with Cole in the first inning and was able to take advantage of a changeup. Red Sox fans are probably pretty proud of that.
