Running Backs

D’Andre Swift: Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings ($6,900)

So about that Lions-Vikings game… just because there will be a lot of passing doesn’t mean there won’t be room for D’Andre Swift to do his thing.

It was Jamaal Williams who vultured all the carries in Week 4, but this is a bounceback week for the Lions and for Swift.

Swift isn’t just a running back: he’s been targeted at least five times in every game this season, including two games with 7+ targets.

The Lions will need to pass in order to keep up with Kirk Cousins, and neither defense is offering up much resistance to anything. While it may not seem like the run would be emphasized, Lions quarterback Jared Goff could use Swift for quick tosses to keep the drive alive.

Dan Campbell said before Week 4 that we’d see more of Swift going forward, and this would be the perfect week to utilize the pass-catching running back in a huge game.

Leonard Fournette: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Miami Dolphins ($6,400)

“Playoff Lenny” has finally brought that level of production to the regular season, with an improved performance in Week 4.

Fournette logged a whopping 20 rushing attempts for 91 scrimmage yards, not to mention three receptions for 47 yards against New England.

It’s a promising sign considering Fournette’s lackluster performance in the early weeks of the season, but Tampa Bay fantasy picks have to be evaluated matchup by matchup (unless it’s Tom Brady). Like his former Patriots, this has become a team where targets change each game with a shifting gameplay that corresponds with each opponent.

Miami has a bottom-ranked defense so far, but it’s injuries to Rob Gronkowski and Giovanni Bernard that spell out a better week for Fournette.
