Fantasy Football 2021, Week 5 rankings: Who to start and sit
Start
Cordarrelle Patterson, ATL, vs. NYJ
Patterson had the game of his career one week ago when he scored three touchdowns. He has become the do-everything player that so many had hoped to see in him when he was on the Minnesota Vikings. Patterson rushes, receives, and returns kicks, making him one of the best FLEX options in all of fantasy. Start him against the Jets as he draws closer to surefire RB2 status.
Damien Harris, NE, @ HOU
Harris has had a tough couple of weeks with the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers shutting down the run game of the New England Patriots. Thankfully for them, the Houston Texans do not come anywhere close to having the same defensive talent. Harris should touch 100 yards at least this week as he shows that he is the best back on the team once again.
Leonard Fournette, TB, vs. MIA
Fournette has established himself as the top running back of the Bucs and that will not be changing anytime soon. With Gio Berard dealing with injury and Ronald Jones struggling to find chemistry, we feel that Fournette is set up for another huge week against the Miami Dolphins.
Sit
Miles Sanders, PHI, @ CAR
Kenneth Gainwell has become the problem that people feared. Sanders has become the second most efficient running back on the Eagles offense and this is closer to a committee than ever before. The rookie is the better option moving forward as Sanders is a fade in this one.
Melvin Gordon, DEN, @ PIT
Trying to figure out the running game of the Denver Broncos is a headache for almost everyone. Gordon is an easy sit against the talented Pittsburgh defense who should not allow a big number from either Broncos running back.
Chuba Hubbard, CAR, vs. PHI
This is more of a beware than anything else as Hubbard did not jump right into the Christian McCaffrey role as many had hoped. He was sharing the ball and even saw D.J. Moore steal a touchdown out of the backfield late in the game for the Carolina Panthers. He’s still worth a look but his numbers will reflect more of a FLEX than an RB2.
