Jose Altuve had an epic slide into home plate for the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALDS.

The Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox are battling in Game 1 of the ALDS at Minute Maid Park, except right now it’s not much of a battle. The game is unraveling quickly for the White Sox, while everything is going right for the Astros. Houston’s second baseman Jose Altuve had an incredible slide into home plate that resulted in him completely avoiding Chicago’s catcher Yasmani Grandal.

It’s the MLB postseason, but it feels like Altuve just incorporated gymnastics into October baseball.

Jose Altuve had one of the best slides into home for the Houston Astros

Don’t start making plans for the AL Championship Series just yet, Astros fans. If Jose’s slide is an indication for how the five-game series will go, though, it’s looking pretty good.

Houston’s Alex Bregman was up-to-bat with one out in the bottom of the third inning. Altuve was on third base, and Bregman hit a ground ball to Chicago’s third baseman Yoan Moncada. Jose took off for home and Moncada threw the ball to Grandal, but he was outmaneuvered by Altuve.

Jose missed Yasmani’s tag and tapped the plate to score the Astros’ second run of the game.

Not only is Altuve already fast to begin with, but his size allowed for him to wedge his way past Grandal’s glove. There’s not much that the White Sox’s defense could’ve done about that.

Jose Altuve is doing Jose Altuve things. What’s new?
