The Milwaukee Brewers should’ve been down a run in the first inning of Game 1 to the Braves, but then the unthinkable happened.

Teams don’t make it this far in the senior circuit without some sort of defensive ability.

With their ace Corbin Burnes on the mound to start Game 1, the Brewers found themselves in some trouble, with runners on first and third and only one out. Ozzie Albies, a more than respectable hitter, was at the plate. Fans smelt trouble.

Instead, Albies hit a sharp ground ball to first baseman Rowdy Tellez, who snagged the ball, touched the bag for the first out and fired it home to catcher Omar Narvaez.

We have to give Narvaez plenty of credit for the pick, as he had to maintain concentration on the base-runner at the same time. No harm, no foul.

Should the Braves have sent Jorge Soler?

Sending Soler was always a big risk, especially considering he’s not the fastest on the bases. Atlanta lacks of true leadoff hitter, so they went with pop in their trade deadline acquisition.

The Brewers made them pay, as Ron Washington sent Soler on contact. A bang-bang play is hardly the fault of the base-runner or third-base coach. The Brewers made a fine play, and the rest is history.

Everything is dissected differently in playoff baseball. What would normally be considered an easy call must be diagnosed by the media and fanbase and perhaps used against the team.

In this case, everyone made the right decision. In a strength-vs-strength scenario, the Brewers came out on top.
