What could have been a special season for BYU was ruined when the 10th-ranked Cougars lost to the Boise State Broncos.
The No. 10 BYU Cougars won’t be ranked all that high when the next edition of the AP poll comes out Sunday. That’s because the Cougars stumbled and lost a game that was very winnable against an underwhelming unranked Boise State Broncos team.
The Action Network’s Brett McMurphy reminded BYU fans that the Cougars chance at having a special season was diminished a bit because of this loss. As McMurphy points out, the Cougars’ shot at making it to a premier bowl game is gone after this loss.
But, uh, McMurphy is probably using a tiny bit of hyperbole here. Maybe.

No. 10 BYU Cougars stumble against unranked Boise State Broncos
The Cougars got off to a good start against Boise State, but the Broncos showed some resiliency and bounced back. Boise State fell behind 10-3 in the first quarter and responded by scoring 17 points in the second quarter.
Of course, the Boise State Broncos went on to beat No. 10 BYU by a score of 26-17. And that sort of defeat is devastating for a Cougars team that was hoping to turn this year into a remarkable one.
This season can still be fun, but it won’t be what BYU fans were hoping for. Had the Cougars won this game, and then won out, there would’ve been a small shot that BYU could’ve made it to the College Football Playoffs or a New Years 6 bowl game.
Of course, this loss prevents that sort of fun for BYU and its fans, but maybe the Cougars can still make it to a bowl game in a fun destination.
