Georgia football player Ladd McConkey has been an inspiration on this year’s football team.

Ladd McConkey is proving it is not about the size of the Dawg in the fight, but the size of the fight in the Dawg.

The 6-foot, 185-pound freshman wide receiver has had a remarkable campaign thus far for the Georgia football team. He had 11 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown entering play on Saturday. While McConkey thrived vs. Vanderbilt, Auburn was a step up in competition. Here he is with the best play of his young Georgia career: A 60-yard touchdown from Stetson Bennett.

When The Mailman delivered, McConkey was there to answer the door as any Dawg would.

Ladd McConkey: Who is this freshman phenom wide receiver for Georgia?

McConkey was a three-star recruit out of Chatsworth, Georgia. He had 10 offers out of high school but opted to enroll at Georgia ahead of fall camp 2020. He redshirted last year, and with it being in the midst of a global pandemic, he was not expected to make much of an impact. But with a depleted receiving corps, McConkey is making the most of his opportunity. He is a local hero.

One day, there will be a bar and grill in Athens called Mailman and McConkey’s and it will be great.
