When is the last time Texas beat Oklahoma in football?
By John Buhler
It was not that long ago the last time the Texas Longhorns beat the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Showdown.
While the Oklahoma Sooners have dominated the Red River Showdown throughout the 21st century, it has only been a few years since the Texas Longhorns won in Dallas.
These two traditional rivals have played pretty much annually since their first meeting way back in 1900. Every year, these two traditional powers meet during the State Fair of Texas at Fair Park in Dallas. This neutral-site location is roughly halfway between Austin and Norman, so it makes sense for it being played at the Cotton Bowl annually. So when was the last time Texas won there?
For those who have forgot when the last time the Longhorns won in Red River, think back to an incredible soundbite from FOX’s Gus Johnson on the call.
Red River Showdown: When was the last time Texas beat Oklahoma in Dallas?
While the Sooners have won the last three meetings, including the 2018 Big 12 Championship game in nearby Arlington, the last time the Longhorns won was earlier that season. No. 19 Texas stunned No. 7 Oklahoma 48-45 at the end of regulation. This was when freshman Cameron Dicker became Dicker the Kicker with Johnson losing his mind on the game-winning field goal.
Fate would have it Dicker is still kicking field goals for the Longhorns entering Saturday’s game.
