As Michigan State receiver Jalen Nailor racks up receiving yards against Rutgers, will he be able to set a new record for receiving yards in a game?

The Michigan State Spartans are currently battling the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and Jalen Nailor is theoretically in a position where he could make some history happen. Of course, he’ll need some help to get there.

In the first half against Rutgers, Nailor has caught four passes for an absurd 208 yards (good for an average of 52 yards per reception) and three touchdowns. If he has a similarly great performance in the second half, there’s a chance that Nailor could have the most receiving yards in a game in the history of the NCAA.

He broke Larry Fitzgerald’s record of 207 yards set in a half. But, will he actually be able to set a break the NCAA record for receiving yards in a game?

Will Jalen Nailor be able to surpass the NCAA record for receiving yards in a game?

Nailor is having a stellar performance, but he’s facing a tough task. He’ll have to make a few more impressive catches and gain plenty of yards if he hopes to break a record against Rutgers.

Back in 1998, Louisiana Tech wide receiver Troy Edwards set the FBS record as the Bulldogs battled the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln. Louisiana Tech ended up losing that game, but Edwards caught 21 passes for 405 yards and three touchdowns. But, that’s technically not the most receiving yards in a game in the entirety of the NCAA’s history.

In 2002, Lewis Howes had an incredible performance for Principa that may never be matched. During a game against Martin Luther, Howes caught 17 passes for 418 yards, which was good enough to set the NCAA All-Division record.
