The Penn State Nittany Lions are without starting quarterback Sean Clifford, who went to the locker room with an injury. Ta’Quan Roberson replaced him.
Just when it looked like Penn State was in control of their top-five matchup with Iowa, quarterback Sean Clifford headed to the locker room.
Clifford appeared to take a hard hit, but it wasn’t immediately clear what the issue was.

Sean Clifford injury update: Penn State quarterback replaced by Ta’Quen Roberson
With Clifford heading for evaluation, the Nittany Lions had to put in backup quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson.
While Roberson has seen action in garbage time this year, things didn’t go well on his first drive. He fumbled his first snap and the offense had three false starts in a row before punting.
Still, he was a well-rated prospect coming out of high school. He ranked eighth among dual-threat quarterbacks and had a four-star ranking.
Sean Clifford ruled out for the rest of the Iowa game with an injury
Clifford won’t return in the second half vs. Iowa.
Penn State won't have Sean Clifford for the second half. He just came out of the tunnel with no uniform on and a wrapped right arm.

Clifford returned to the Penn State sidelines out of uniform and with his right arm wrapped up. The Nittany Lions are off next week before playing Illinois on Oct. 23 before playing at Ohio State on Oct. 30.
