Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder 3 live round-by-round play by play
Follow along with FanSided for live round-by-round updates as Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder collide for the third and likely the last time.
Saturday, Oct. 9, has arrived, which means Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder 3 happens 20 months after their second fight.
Wilder and Fury fought to a draw in 2018, but Wilder nearly knocked out Fury in round 12. Somehow, Fury beat the count and finished the fight on his feet. The split-draw meant that both boxers remained undefeated, but there was a decisive winner and loser the second time.
Fury mauled Wilder in February 2020 to take the WBC heavyweight title from Wilder. After the fight, Wilder threw out several ludicrous excuses before going into seclusion.
Months went by, and Fury decided to try and break his contractual rematch with Wilder citing an expired time frame. He made plans to fight Anthony Joshua in a full unification contest, but an arbitrator dashed those hopes by ruling a trilogy matchup with Wilder had to happen next.
In that time, Joshua lost his three titles to Oleksandr Usyk, and Fury and Wilder bulked up to do damage in the boxing ring. Both came in at career highs in weight. Fury weighed 277 pounds to Wilder’s 238. Wilder only weighed 208 pounds on their first fight night.
Wilder revamped his boxing team by firing Mark Breland and promoting friend and former foe Malik Scott to head trainer. The training videos show Wilder’s improved footwork and body combinations, but can he implement those skills in competition, or will he revert to old habits?
Is Fury still hungry, or has becoming a two-time world champion extinguished his fire? Is he 277 fit pounds, or does Wilder stay true to his word and run through him like a train?
Fury vs. Wilder 3 goes down at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN and FOX pay-per-view. Expect ring walks any time after 11 p.m. ET. Bookmark this page as FanSided brings you live round-by-round updates.
