The Arizona Cardinals will host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5 of the 2021-22 NFL season. San Francisco fell to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4 and sit at 2-2 on the year. Arizona is the lone undefeated team in the league and is coming off of a 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams last week.
The 49ers will try to break their two-game losing streak, but it won’t be easy. The Cardinals’ offense, led my MVP candidate Kyler Murray, are averaging a league-high 35 points per game. Murray has a 76.1 completion rate, has thrown for six touchdowns and has ran for three more. Arizona has the chance to be 5-0 for the first time since 1974, but not if Nick Bosa and San Francisco’s defense have anything to say about it.
If the 49ers announce that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is out of the game with a calf injury, rookie Trey Lance will earn his first start for San Francisco. Lance threw for two touchdowns last week after taking over for Garoppolo in the second half. If Trey starts and performs well, he’ll have a good case as to why he should remain the starter even after Jimmy comes back. Will San Francisco be able to knock off the league’s last undefeated team?
The Cardinals are the -225 favorite, while the 49ers are the +190 underdogs.
