The possible deciding Game 4 between the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros was postponed on Monday due to rain.

There can’t be four postseason games in one day. The baseball gods won’t have it.

The second of that quartet was set to be White Sox-Astros at Guaranteed Rate Field. After the White Sox extended the series on Sunday night thanks to a 12-6 victory, they were all set to turn to Carlos Rodon against the Astros.

Rodon had a 13-5 record on the season, paired with a 2.37 ERA.

First pitch of Game 4 is now set for 1:07 on Tuesday afternoon.

Can Astros close out White Sox on Tuesday?

Rodon hasn’t been the same shutdown version of himself down the stretch, hence Tony La Russa’s decision to pitch him in Game 4, rather than earlier in the series.

The break in action will not force Dusty Baker to go to a different arm in Game 4 in pitcher Jose Urquidy. In 20 starts, Urquidy went 8-3 with a 3.02 ERA and 90 strikeouts.

White Sox reliever Ryan Tepera added a little fuel to the fire on Sunday night, by insinuating that the Astros are cheating at Minute Maid Park given some of their struggles in Game 3 on the road. He didn’t have much to back up that claim minus Houston’s history, and La Russa even spoke out against his own pitcher after the fact.

“I don’t get into that stuff. This is America. Players can say what they want to…They’re a very good team. They’re tough to beat,” La Russa said.

We’ll see if that bulletin board material comes back to haunt Chicago.
