Seahawks working out terrible QB option with Russell Wilson out
By Ethan Lee
The Seattle Seahawks are apparently pretty desperate to find a quarterback with Russell Wilson being injured.
Things are a little grim for the Seattle Seahawks right now. The Seahawks are off to a 2-3 start and are currently sitting at third in the NFC West. One could argue that there’s still plenty of season left to get things turned around. That would be true if Russell Wilson wasn’t out after he had surgery on his thumb.
And unfortunately for the Seahawks, the recovery time for that injury doesn’t look great as Wilson is out for anywhere from four to eight weeks because of it. He’ll be on the sideline for a little while, so where should the Seattle Seahawks turn?
Well, according to a tweet from Field Yates, Seattle is apparently desperate enough to give Blake Bortles a shot.
Blake Bortles would make little sense for the Seattle Seahawks
Bortles hasn’t seen significant playing time in a few years. It’s been a considerably amount of time since the last time he started a game in the NFL. His most recent playing time came in 2019 when he was a member of the Los Angeles Rams.
While there, Bortles threw two total passes. One of those was completed for a grand total of three yards.
That’s not exactly great!
On top of that, his time in Jacksonville was full of ups and downs as Bortles threw for 103 touchdowns and 75 interceptions while completing 59.3 percent of his passes over five seasons.
There are other quarterbacks out there. Seattle could, and should, shop around rather than just settling on Bortles. There’s still time to give some other quarterbacks a look. But hey, maybe Bortles will show up and perform better than anyone would possibly expect.
