29. Frank Clark

Edge rusher is another position where NFL teams are required to spend big money. Clark isn’t the flashiest pass rusher in the league, but his ability to hold up against both the run and the pass makes him a valuable defender for the Chiefs.

Clark may not be the double-digit sack artist that Kansas City envisioned when they acquired him from Seattle, but he still was good enough to earn a Pro Bowl nod last year. It’s his two-way ability at defensive end that differentiates him from a lot of his peers on the defensive line.

With that being said, it’s still hard to see Clark’s contract as anything other than an overpay. He’s just not the sort of game changer from the edge that you expect to see making this kind of salary. Paying $20.8 million for a guy who only got six sacks in 15 games last year is a questionable value for the Chiefs’ front office.

Clark isn’t a horrible value, but there are far superior bargains on this list. He’s still an important cog for a Kansas City defense that has a serious chance to capture another Super Bowl title this season.
