4. Deshaun Watson

Watson is easily the most overpaid player in the NFL this season due to his off-the-field issues. He’s not expected to play another snap for the Texans.

The only chance Watson has to start providing value against his mammoth contract is to arrange a trade to a team that’s willing to endure the public relations storm that will follow putting him onto the field. To date, Houston’s trade demands have proven to be a non-starter for quarterback-needy teams around the league.

At some point, it’s likely that Watson will get a new start somewhere else. On the field, he is a magician when the ball is in his hands. He’s got above-average arm talent but it’s his exceptional running ability that keeps defensive coordinators up at night.

Projecting Watson’s future in the NFL is impossible until his off-the-field issues get ironed out. It’s possible this contract won’t even remain intact after that situation is resolved. Until then, he’s a highly overpaid clipboard holder for Houston.
