Arch Manning rumors: Does Tennessee or Ole Miss have a chance at legacy recruit?
By John Buhler
Arch Manning is a legacy at both Tennessee and Ole Miss, but there are no guarantees he commits to either SEC football program.
Arch Manning is not only the top quarterback recruit for 2023, but he is a legacy at two SEC schools: Ole Miss and Tennessee.
The third generation of Manning quarterbacks has arrived. His grandfather Archie, uncle Eli and father Cooper all went to Ole Miss. Grandpa Red and Uncle Eli are legends in Oxford. As for Tennessee, his uncle Peyton is arguably the greatest player in Vols history not named Reggie White. With strong ties to the SEC schools, what are the odds Manning commits to either of them?
Manning is considering five Power Five schools, but only one of them is Ole Miss or Tennessee.
Arch Manning recruitment: Is he considering Ole Miss or Tennessee at this time?
As of the middle of October 2021, these are the five schools Manning is the most likely to commit to for 2023: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas. Thus far, Manning has made visits to Alabama, Georgia and Texas during games. While he saw W’s in Tuscaloosa and in Athens, a blown lead to Oklahoma State in Austin could jeopardize Manning’s chances of committing to Texas.
Though Texas had been his slight leader, that all could change after Saturday. While Alabama, Clemson and Georgia recruit at an elite level, Ole Miss is his family’s stomping grounds. Lane Kiffin can coach and develop quarterbacks. The Rebels are also a top-15 team in the country now. The chances of Manning going to Ole Miss are pretty good, but they are non-existent for Tennessee.
The longer Ole Miss remains in the conversation, the more likely Manning may end up going there.
