Florida football: Emory Jones benched after 2nd INT vs. LSU, Anthony Richardson to the rescue
By John Buhler
Florida football head coach Dan Mullen made the switch from Emory Jones to Anthony Richardson down in the second half of a must-win game at LSU in Week 7.
With two losses on the season, the Florida football program needed an offensive spark.
Trailing the LSU Tigers 28-13 after an Emory Jones pick-six, Florida head coach Dan Mullen pulled his starting quarterback from the game and inserted his backup Anthony Richardson. While Jones is the more seasoned signal-caller of the two, Richardson has the infinitely higher ceiling. In a game that Florida absolutely cannot lose, Mullen is going with the guy who can stop the bleeding.
If Florida loses to LSU, Gainesville will completely run out of patience with Mullen as head coach.

If this happens, it’ll have a whole new dynamic ahead of the rivalry game in two weeks vs. Georgia with Richardson getting the start and Jones potentially pondering a transfer.
