3 NFL quarterbacks who need to be benched after Week 6
By John Buhler
Every Sunday, many NFL starting quarterbacks played badly enough to deserve being benched.
Another week of NFL action, another trio of starting quarterbacks who deserved to be benched.
There is a reason the league puts so many games on during the early-afternoon window. The NFL does not want to showcase how truly pitiful some of their franchises’ starting quarterbacks really are. For every Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers who goes out there and balls weekly, there is a guy who is one bad game away from becoming a well-paid professional clipboard holder.
Here are three signal-callers who played badly enough in Week 6 to merit being benched.

Tua Tagovailoa makes Dolphins fans cry they passed on Justin Herbert for him
Even he has played worse before, the Miami Dolphins aren’t going anywhere with Tua Tagovailoa as their starting quarterback. The Dolphins are on a five-game losing streak after winning in Week 1 by the skin of their teeth. To make things even worse, Miami lost to the toothless Jacksonville Jaguars in London. How sure are we some Dolphins aren’t getting tarmac-ed after this debacle?
Though Tagovailoa completed 33-of-47 passes for 329 yards, two touchdowns and a pick, it was not like his counterpart Trevor Lawrence laid an egg either. His team is far less talented than Tagovailoa’s, but he outwilled him to win a game both AFC bottom-feeders absolutely had to have. It is looking worse and worse by the week the Dolphins passed on Justin Herbert for Tagovailoa.
Even if the Bolts got boat raced by the Baltimore Ravens a few hours later, Los Angeles is trending up with their new head coach and franchise quarterback. As for Miami, Tagovailoa may not get a third year at the helm and who is to say Brian Flores gets a fourth year down in South Beach? The Dolphins have been a dysfunctional mess for the better part of this century, so what has changed?
The sooner Miami recognizes it drafted the next Sam Bradford, the faster the team can move on.
