For what could the final game of the Championship Series, the Red Sox have reportedly brought in a special musical guest embodying the Boston team spirit.

There’s nothing like a zeitgeist anthem to capture the spirit of a playoff team on a hot streak.

For the Boston Red Sox, that song is “Dancing on My Own”, a song that had a remarkable evolution before blaring in Boston’s dugout. The original 2010 song by Swedish pop star Robyn was covered by Britain’s Calum Scott in a 2015 audition on “Britain’s Got Talent”, then it was remixed by techno legend Tiesto.

That’s the version of the song Red Sox players have been singing along to all October — and because of it, the Red Sox have decided to bring a special guest in for a monumental Game 4.

According to Gabrielle Starr of BoSox Injection, singer Calum Scott has been spotted at Fenway Park Tuesday evening.

Red Sox fans will be rocking to “Dancing On My Own” live from Callum Scott at Game 4.

The song, which began as the walk-up song for Red Sox pitcher Kevin Plawecki, has become a beloved anthem for the entire team. According to The New York Times, Plawecki initially got hooked on the song when teammate and former housemate Andrew Benintendi showed it to him in the summer of 2020.

Plawecki, who was living with Benintendi, Mitch Moreland and Kevin Pillar at the time, decided to blare the anthem around the house. Plawecki played it everywhere, and the rest is Red Sox history. When the team celebrated with champagne following their NLDS win, players sang along and jumped to the melancholic melody.

Scott, who is a native of Yorkshire, England, seems to have become a Red Sox fan by association. When a fan asked if he and Tiesto would perform after a World Series win, Scott said he’d be there “in a heartbeat.”

It seems Scott is in Boston tonight to amplify that winning energy and push the Red Sox over the edge for another win at home.
