Just days removed from being the beneficiary of one of the worst check-swing calls in the history of the MLB postseason, the Dodgers caught another break.

Giants fans will want to look away.

Game 5 of the NLDS ended with a swinging strike that wasn’t, as Wilmer Flores clearly did not offer at a third strike from Max Scherzer. Just a few games later, and the Dodgers are still on the receiving end of such calls, as Trea Turner got an extra strike against the Atlanta Braves in Game 3.

Turner wouldn’t contribute anything this at-bat anyway, but given the Dodgers were gifted a one-run win against the Giants just a few days ago, they were probably due a third strike there.

Dodgers: Trea Turner struggling this postseason

Turner’s excellent regular season hasn’t translated into positive postseason play, as he’s hit under .200 in both the NLDS and NLCS thus far.

The Dodgers lost both games in Atlanta, and face two must-win games at Dodger Stadium early this week. Los Angeles has plenty of experience coming back against the Braves, as they did so last season as well. The Dodgers faced a 3-1 deficit in the shortened 2020 season against the Braves, and that team is one that features both Marcell Ozuna and Ronald Acuña.
