FanDuel NFL 2021: Best lineup for Week 7
Wide Receivers
Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions-$8,800
Kupp clearly has great rapport with Matthew Stafford (#breakfastmeetings), and a one-sided win over the New York Giants in Week 6 did not quell Kupp’s production (nine catches for 130 yards and two touchdowns).
Another one-sided game is in the offing this week against the 0-6 Detroit Lions, as Stafford faces his former team. The Lions haven’t been too generous to opposing wide receivers so far this season, but that’s a product of being one of four teams entering Week 7 with less than 100 total targets allowed to the position.
Kupp certainly has a floor this week that shouldn’t be discounted if the Rams have a big lead in the second half. But it didn’t matter last week, and he’s the Rams’ wide receiver who is immune to game script or the Rams having a lead.
Calvin Ridley, Atlanta Falcons at Miami Dolphins-$7,300
Ridley missed Atlanta’s game in London agains the New York Jets due to a personal issue. But he has returned to the team this week, and he’ll be back as the Falcons’ No. 1 passing game weapon in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins. In the first five games this season, he had a 27 percent target share and a 47 percent air yardage share for the Falcons.
The Dolphins were down their top two cornerbacks in Week 6, and it’s unclear if Xavien Howard and/or Byron Jones will play this week. If not, Ridley’s matchup gets even better. Miami is allowing the third-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers, no matter your host site of choice (FanDuel, Yahoo!, ESPN, etc.).
Even with the eight-highest salary among wide receivers on FanDuel this week, Ridley stands out as a value play considering teamate Cordarrelle Patterson comes in at $8,000. The Ryan-Ridley stack is lined up to be a profitable one in Week 7.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams-$5,400
Over the last three games. St. Brown has 18 receptions on 23 targets–good for a 20 percent target share from Jared Goff. He has at least five catches and seven targets in all three games, as the Lions look for someoe to step up in a thin wide receiver group.
The Lions have not had an offensive snap with the lead this season. That feels likely to stretch to seven full games against the Rams, with a negative game script lining Goff up for 40-plus pass attempts (for better or worse). Going into the weeds of math based on his recent run, that would put St. Brown in line for 8-10 targets on Sunday.
Going top-end for a running back and two wide receivers means going cheaper in other spots. The de facto No. 1 wide receiver on a bad team is an easy way to go cheap for my third receiver.
