Flex and Team Defense

Flex: J.D. McKissic, RB, Washington Football Team at Green Bay Packers-$5,700

With Antonio Gibson dealing with a shin injury, and perhaps with a game that was a blowout in mind, McKissic only had two fewer carries (eight) in Week 6 with four more touches (16) than Gibson. Regardless of Gibson’s health, McKissic has been the favored passing down back for Washington.

The Green Bay Packers are a middle of the pack fantasy defense against running backs overall. But they stretch into the bottom half of the league in receptions allowed to the position, with three receiving touchdowns allowed to running backs (tied for second-most in the league).

If Gibson misses Sunday’s game, McKissic would easily be in line for 20 touches. Even if Gibson is available (and likely limited), 12-15 touches might be the floor. Regardless, McKissic is a nice value buy on FanDuel this week.

Team Defense: Arizona Cardinals vs. Houston Texans-$5,000

The Cardinals have allowed less than 15 points in three of their last four games, and 20 of fewer points in five of six games this season. They’v also had multiple takeaways and/or sacks in all but one game. The Week 7 matchup for this unit can’t be much better.

After showing a sign of life in Week 5 against the New England Patriots (22 points), the Houston Texans scored three points against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6. In the other three of Davis’ Mills’ four starts under center, besides Week 5, they have totaled 12 points. Mills has taken 12 sacks in his four starts.

Being as heavily favored in Sunday’s game as they are invites the notion of the Cardinals allowing some garbage time production. But the Texans’ offense doesn’t seem equipped to take advantage of a defense calling off the dogs a bit. Arizona’s defense is well worth its cost as the most expensive on FanDuel this week.
