2. Randall Cobb will catch five passes

Cobb got shut out against Chicago last week, but this matchup sets up well for the veteran wideout. Washington is going to break the heat at Rodgers early and often. That means Green Bay’s offensive game plan will be to get the ball out of his hands as early as possible.

Cobb no longer has the sprinter’s speed that allowed him to burn defenses on deep routes as he did earlier in his career. What he does possess is Rodgers’ trust on short and intermediate routes. He’s going to be the hot receiver a lot of times when Washington tries to bring five or more pass rushers.

There’s a cogent argument to be made that Allen Lazard or Amari Rodgers should be getting this type of work, but Cobb has the trust of his quarterback. That’s going to make him a featured part of Sunday’s game plan.

Don’t look for Cobb to rack up a ton of receiving yards on the whole, but he’ll make a big third-down conversion or two to keep the Packers’ offense humming early. He’s not an exciting safety blanket but he’s a useful one for Green Bay.
